CPU goes off immediately as soon as it boots up!

Here is the narration.

Issue: The moment you turn the computer on, the list of Operating Systems that are available (or directly loads, if you have only one) appears. Subsequently, within a minute or two, you realize that a blank black screen appears with no output and you actually come to know that the CPU has gone to power off mode automatically.

What happened next?
I kept repeating this to see why this was happening. Also, removed the CPU cabinet to further see if anything wrong goes in the inside, and not to my surprise, the processor's fans automatically goes off.

Possibilities:
Better to think of what could have actually caused this. Be it extremely silly, or the opposite of it. Here are the various possibilities and trying out in the mentioned order might help you avoid a few unnecessary initiatives.

1. Corrupt Operating System: This is possible case for the failure. However, in normal and practical circumstances, this should actually reboot your machine instead of shutting it down automatically. As a precautionary measure, it is better to double check to see if your operating system has any ardent problems. Trying the Safe Mode in case of Windows operating systems, is an option that you could attempt.

2. Overheating of Processor: Try to remove the CPU's fan and the coolant (cubical thing that appears between the processor chip and the CPU fan) and check out for possible dust. (I must admit, I removed a glass full of dust from it and I am not kidding.) Then, apply this Heat Sink Paste on top of the processor where the coolant is actually placed. Once it is done, try to re-assemble them back and boot your machine to see the behavior.

3. Problem with SMPS: It might be the case that the processor is not getting enough supply of electricity from the SMPS that it must actually be getting. So, try changing the SMPS device and make sure that the power chords are rightly attached at the required slots.
